I was trying out a different technique for tree foliage. Not my best work but not too bad. Painted with gouache on 140# cold press Saunders paper.

You never know what you will see on a walk around the lake. This project was done as a watercolor/collage. I combined my photograph, with a poured and texture background in watercolor, and then tissue paper applied over it in different shapes. It was an experiment I hope all will enjoy.

Fifteen years ago I found a special place in the Colorado wilderness--the headwaters of the upper Rio Grande River. It is a special place and we have been camping there ever since. I sit in camp and look at the mountains and cliffs east of camp, and never tire of the view. This last year, I took a few photos, thinking of this project. Sometimes nature is just too beautiful, and no painting can really do justice to that reality. Yet, I had to give it a try. This was painted on Arches 140# rough. Size is 15" x 22"
